Molnlycke Mepilex Border 3" X 3" Self-Adherent Foam Dressing 5/bx 295200 is an all-in-one, foam dressing that effectively absorbs and retains exudates, maintaining a moist wound environment. The Safetac® layer seals the wound edges, preventing the exudates from leaking onto the surrounding skin, thus minimizing the risk for maceration. The Safetac® layer ensures that the dressing can be changed without damaging the wound or surrounding skin, or exposing the patient to additional pain.

Features:
  • Minimizes pain and trauma at dressing changes.
  • Self-adherent, no secondary fixation needed.
  • May be used under compression bandages.
  • Promotes patient comfort during wear.
  • Designed for ease-of-use.
  • May remain in place for several days depending on the condition of the wound.
  • Consists of a soft, silicone, wound-contact layer, an absorbent pad in three layers, a polyurethane foam, a nonwoven layer, a fiber mixture with super absorbent polyacrylate fibers and an outer film that is vapor permeable, moisture and bacteriaproof.

Effective but expensive

Mepilex Border is very effective in the healing process of leg ulcers, but it is also very expensive. On the advice of a nurse, I cut the 3" x 3" dressing into quarters, in order to get the most out of its application. It can stay in place for several days, it is easy to remove, and it does not harm tender skin. It's a good product, to be sure, but I don't understand why it is so expensive.

Mediplex bandage works well

I have used a Mediplex bandage several times. It is easy to apply, stays on well, & pulls off without pain.

These are the only thing that we can use on JR's legs that heal them in a decent length of time. We had been battling an ulcer on his leg since October of 2018 and had to go to the doctor in 2019 and she started using these patches on it and within two months time it was healed. We started using the 6x6 and finally able to use the 1.6x2 and now nothing. So when a new ulcer opens we start immediately with the Meplex bandages. Thank you so much for them and the way they work.
