Diabetic Food

There are several foods that people with diabetes can still enjoy and eat!

Just a few good examples include:

• Non or low starchy vegetables, fresh, steamed, roasted, or grilled. Frozen too!
• Nuts, beans, seeds, or tofu
• Meat and seafood
• Eggs and low-fat fairy
• Low sugar spices, sauces, and condiments
• Whole grains such as brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa, millet, or amaranth
• Items made with whole grains with no, or very little added sugar
• Natural vegetable fats, like nuts, seeds, or avocados
• Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids
• Plant-based oils: canola, grapeseed, sunflower, peanut, or olive
• Unflavored or sparkling water, unsweetened tea, or coffee with low-fat sugar-free substitutes

Certain fruits are, unfortunately, loaded with natural sugars, or fructose. When you have diabetes there are a few fruits that may be bad for you if you eat too much, you may need to limit your intake with the following fruits:

• Bananas
• Pineapples
• Mangoes
• Watermelon
• Oranges
• Cherries
• Dried Fruits
